CCTV cameras are getting "more intelligent"  with scientists at the University of Portsmouth working on cameras that will use artificial intelligence software to detect sounds such as that of car window smashing, reports the BBC. The detection of sounds will enable cameras to capture crimes faster and thus improve response times.

This is part of a three-year surveillance study funded by the ESPRC.

Current artificial intelligence software is reportedly already powerful enough to not only detect minor visual indicators but also other complex activity. The endeavour of the artificial intelligence software will be to develop "shapes of sound", which will then be used to enhance algorithms to be used inside CCTV systems.

The InfoPrint 1764 multi-function product (MFP) was named the “Best User Friendly Color Printer Range”; InfoPrint 1764 was named “Best Color Workgroup Printer”; and InfoPrint 1769 and InfoPrint 1759 MFP were named Best User Friendly Workgroup Family by BERTL.  These MFP products were evaluated on several criteria, including print and copy speeds, feature sets, functionality and performance.

Printers from InfoPrint were commended for their features that included ease of use to check device status, scan preview feature on the InfoPrint 1769 and 1759 MFPs, security features such SNMP, SSL and IP security, Mac filtering and Kerberos authentication on the InfoPrint Colour 1764.  The InfoPrint 1764 MFP allows users to copy, print, scan and fax using that one device, while the InfoPrint 1769 and InfoPrint 1759 boost end user productivity with color printing, color photocopying, color duplex scanning and monochrome faxing. 

The PayDynamics bespoke service from Charterhouse Group uses proprietary payroll and administration systems, reports onrec.com.  One of the key features is the ability for companies to “pick and mix” on a range of PayDyanmics’ services, which makes it more flexible and varied.

The PayDynamics service will offer recruitment companies with capabilities like CV preparation, work entitlement checks and access to factoring. The service removes a lot of the complexity of payroll and back office services and reduces costs related to finding, funding and overseeing payroll and back office staff. PayDynamics also ensures legal compliance.

Sportswear leisure brand Trespass is using Eurostop’s retail management system to manage sales and stock across its 70 stores in the country. Eurostop’s e-pos is now used on over 82 tills in stores and links the e-rmis head office solution with its ERP back office system.

As a result of the implementation of this retail system, Trespass can now manage stock across its stores, with automatic re-ordering. Moreover, Trespass can use the customer data collected to plan and execute targeted marketing and loyalty programs.  Eurostop’s e-pos retail management solutions are expected to be rolled out across the Nevisport retail stores also.
