On-demand document management and workflow solutions provider SpringCM has introduced version 4.5 of its Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) content management system that includes 54 features and enhancements to improve document-centric processing.


Among the key features of the latest version are:

Besides these, the latest version also includes the ability to separate PDF documents such as faxes into multipledocuments; creation of saved searches to speed up common search tasks;expanded options for bulk upload and migration; and enhancements to theAdvanced Workflow activity functions.

Overland Storage has formed an alliance with Mobotix Vision Systems to offer video surveillance and archiving solutions for the under-100 camera system market.

As part of the arrangement, Mobotix will offer a bundled solution including Overland's Snap Server network attached storage (NAS) appliance family with the former's line of high-resolution digital, network-based video security solutions.

The high-resolution digital images offer much better quality over those offered by analog cameras, thus improving the improving the performance of a variety of security and video analytics applications. Though extremely advantageous for an assortment of security and video analytics applications, high- resolution images require pairing with a storage solution that delivers additional capacity as well as performance, flexibility and scalability with rock-solid reliability.

Cradle Technologies has introduced its enVigil series of networked video surveillance systems (NVSS) that not only offer a wide range of very useful features but also take advantage of the Internet to provide secure, high quality, remote access to the surveillance audio and video, from anywhere, anytime.

This surveillance system will help businesses supervise their factories, warehouses, bank branches, retail shops, offices, franchises or any remote location from anywhere in the world and enable "remote presence".

According to a company press release, the NVSS offers the following features:

Oce, which provides high end printing and photocopying systems, has now become a licensee of Legic Identsystems Ltd, which makes contactless smart card technology. Using the contactless technology from Legic in the office solutions from Oce will help the latter with  printing and copier authorisation and related cost accounting. The partnership with the copier solutions provider means that LEGIC technology now moves into the purview of office automation applications, besides areas such as time and attendance, access control and electronic payment systems.
UK retailer Tesco is planning to roll out reverse vending machines at 9 stores in Scotland in January, reports Packaging News. Reverse vending machines will help with recycling as customers can put used bottles and cans into these vending machines.  According to the report, customers will be rewarded points for depositing these used materials and using these machines; spectrometry and photography will be used for the purpose of proper identification of these objects. If the initial trial of these vending machines is successful, the retailer may be introducing it in various other stores. Source: Packaging News
