Sharp Document Solutions Company of America (SDSCA) has introduced three monochrome MFP models for the high volume production market, MX-M850, MX-M950 and MX-M1100.
These models offer print and copier speeds ranging from 85 to 110 PPM and feature a larger color LCD display for ease of operation and viewing. These large production MFPs support the Sharp Open Systems Architecture (Sharp OSA) for seamless integration with network applications as well as the companyâs security suite.
âDesigned for the large enterprise environment, the high-speed series allows for large production in high-volume CRD, corporate data centers and service bureaus, and gives businesses the power to customize their MFP to their specific business with a variety of finishing and paper supply options,â said Ed McLaughlin, President, SDSCA.
All three models use Sharpâs Scan technology that minimizes paper handling while maximizing performance and providing faster scan speeds. To keep print and copy jobs processing efficiently, these networked MFPs have on-line paper capacities of up to 8,050 sheets â and a 250-sheet document feeder.
The machines can handle average monthly volumes from as little as 50,000 pages to up to 500,000. The series also features an 80GB hard drive with 768 MB of standard memory to help even the busiest enterprises manage document workflow and process jobs faster.

Eastman Kodak Company has announced the launch of the KODAK EASYSHARE All-in-One printers designed to let consumers affordably print crisp, sharp documents and KODAK lab-quality photos at home using premium, pigment-based inks that will save consumers up to 50 percent on everything they print.
The KODAK EASYSHARE AiO Printers use Kodakâs premium, pigment-based ink, priced at $9.99 for a cartridge of black ink and $14.99 for a five-ink color cartridge (max. retail prices in the US). For every $15 spent on color ink and $10 spent on black ink, consumers can print the same number of pages at half the cost of other consumer inkjet printers.

According to a news report in SDA-India, "the combined page printer, copier and multifunctional product (MFP) market in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) grew 5 percent in the first half of 2006, with shipments totaling 22 million units". The news report was based on a market study by Gartner.
The growth was driven by surge in sales of color page copiers and inkjet MFP, that grew 98 and 24 percent respectively, year-on-year. Overall, there was a decrease in the average selling prices of the products, which in turn contributed to greater unit sales. Moreover, consumers are turning to multi-functional office products.
