Xerox is marketing a series of new color multifunction products (MFPs) - along with the DocuColor 260, 242 and 252 - that offer new options for producing high-end, laser-quality color prints and everyday business documents.

Designed for the needs of small and medium businesses, the WorkCentre 7328, 7335 and 7345 systems print and copy at 26 to 35 ppm in color and 28 to 45ppm in black-and-white.

These models join the full Xerox office portfolio, which includes MFPs that run up to 95 ppm. Xerox claims that these models produce permanent images that will not smudge or smear, can handle a wide variety of papers, and maintain their rated speed no matter how much color is used on the page. They also scan and include advanced security features to protect confidential information.
Nuance Communications has introduced the PaperPort Personalized Scanning Platform [PSP] that allows office workers to customize the scanning menus on their network multifunction printer/copier/scanners (MFPs) directly from their desktop. The PSP will be first implemented on the new Xerox Extensible Interface Platform (EIP) devices.
The ease-of-use and patented features of the PaperPort solution has made it the de facto standard for scanning from MFP devices, with PaperPort being the core OEM client application of Xerox Scan-to-PC Desktop, EFI Desktop and Desktop Professional and Konica Minolta Unity Desktop and Kyocera.
The PaperPort Personalized Scanning Platform combines with Xerox EIP to bring “one-touch scanning” to network MFP devices – and in a way that is personalized and familiar to the specific user. The result is an unrivaled level of scanning ease-of-use and flexibility for office workers in organizations of all sizes.
The PaperPort PSP client provides the user with a visual way to associate which of their specific desktop or network folders they want to have available on the MFP device menu. This allows the device to present a handful of the folders on the user’s PC or mapped network drives, making the specific folders relevant to each user immediately accessible to them. The user can also identify which document processing workflows they want to have available on the MFP device menu, such as scan to searchable PDF, convert to Word, or store in Microsoft SharePoint. This gives users a one-button document workflow experience at the device.
Nuance has also developed the PaperPort PSP Plug-in, a light-weight component that bridges PaperPort PSP desktop clients with MFP open interface environments, such as Xerox EIP. Once in place, users can authenticate themselves at any supported network MFP device.
Samsung has introduced the SCX-6345FN MFP, the first in a new line of multi-function laser printers that offer workgroup performance, efficiency and flexibility with duplex copying, laser printing, color scanning and high-speed faxing capabilities. The SCX-6345FN offers print and copy speeds of up to 45 pages per minute in A4 size, with a resolution of up to 1200 dpi. Moreover, the device generates color scans with up to 4800dpi scanning resolution. The device’s simple design enables it to be easily shipped, installed and maintained either as a desktop or workgroup multi-function printer (MFP). It also features a LCD touch screen and intuitive UI design, besides occupying much lesser space than similar products in its class. The SCX-6345FN MFP offers built-in Windows Vista, Macintosh and Linux compatibility through Hi-Speed USB 2.0 and 10/100 Base-TX interfaces for seamless integration into networks and work group environments.
Market research firm Gartner Dataquest has named the American arm of leading copier & imaging products manufacturer, Canon, as the top brand leader in the overall copier market in the U.S. in 2006. The Gartner Dataquest study evaluated market share for color and black-and-white copiers of both digital and analog technology.
Canon also tops the list in every speed segment of the black-and-white copier market evaluated, the fifth time running that the company has achieved this distinction.
According to Ryoichi Bamba, executive vice president and general manager, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc., Canon has proven to be corporate Americas copier of choice for more than two decades. Over the years, Canon has made significant investments in technology to allow us to consistently deliver the most robust color and black-and-white product line-up in the industry.
Targeting the small-to-medium sized businesses and public sector organizations, Epson has introduced a hassle free leasing solution. This offers a simple one-stop 3 year lease agreement and enough toner to print up to 23,000 pages.
For example, the AcuLaser CX11NF which acts as a printer, copier, scanner and fax can be leased for only _ per month. The AcuLaser CX11NF has a ‘first page out' print time of nine seconds, fast mono and colour copying results, high resolution 9600dpi scanning and G3 compatible faxing.
Costing less than the corresponding outright purchase RPP, the leasing solution includes an enhanced warranty policy of a 4 hour on-site response and 8 hour repair or replace. The offer comes with a replacement photoconductor unit as well.
The leasing option makes it affordable for businesses to upgrade to laser printing. Complete details of the leasing option are available at
