The next edition of IPEX, one of the largest global technology events for the print, media and publishing industries, was formally launched recently, according to a press release published on PackagingEssentials.com. Already, some of the giants in the digital printing press business have confirmed their participation at the event, to be held in May 2010. These companies include HP, Kodak, Ricoh, Agfa Graphics, Epson, Canon, Screen, Xeikon, Konica Minolta, Canon and Fuji. With the conclusion of drupa 2008, many companies in the graphic arts and digital printing business consider IPEX as the perfect launch pad for their new products and technologies. Xerox has introduced the Xerox 700 Digital Color Press which features coated paper handling, heavyweight media support, and feeding and finishing options at an entry-level price to offer print providers great flexibility and an excellent digital printing technology.
Printing at about 70ppm in both colour and black and white, the Xerox 700 Digital Color Press is perfectly suited for in-plant operations, quick printers, commercial printers, creative agencies, photo specialty retailers and departmental environments. Since the press offers the quality of a high-end production press, it is suitable for printing photo books, brochures, direct mail collateral, catalogs and more.
The Xerox 700 Digital Color Press uses a proprietary low-melt EA Toner that prints full colour at fast speeds with matte finish image quality. The press prints on coated and uncoated paper with a maximum sheet size of 13" x 19.2" and a wide media latitude between 64 gsm and 300 gsm (16 lb. bond up to 110 lb. cover). It offers automatic two-sided printing up to 220 gsm (80 lb. cover) on both coated and uncoated stocks. The device boasts image quality at 2400 x 2400 x 1 dots per inch and tight front-to-back registration of +/- 1.0mm.

According to the May 2008 IDC Hardcopy Peripheral Tracker, the digital printing press market, defined as color devices of 41+ pages per minute, priced between $20,000 and $100,000, experienced 2007 year-over-year growth of 50 percent in the U.S. and 112 percent in Europe.
