Canon USA has introduced the REALiS WUX10, world's first WUXGA-resolution (1920 x 1200) widescreen Multimedia Projector using LCOS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) technology. The company has also introduced the REALiS SX80 Multimedia high-resolution SXGA Projector that is the world's first projector to offer PictBridge connectivity and is suitable for users in corporate, education and other professional fields.

Both projectors feature new LCOS reflective LCD panels, with the REALiS WUX10 incorporating a 0.71-inch WUXGA  panel and the REALiS SX80 featuring a 0.55-inch SXGA panel. The two projectors also feature the company's proprietary AISYS (Aspectual Illumination System) Optical Engine which equalizes the light from the projection lamp and maximizes the performance of the LCOS panels to achieve high brightness, excellent contrast, exceptional resolution and a more compact projector form factor.

Moreover, the projectors eature newly developed Genuine Canon 1.5x Powered Zoom/Focus Lenses that deliver increased resolution and suppression of lens aberrations, and improved 10:0 lens offset, reducing the need for tilting and/or keystone correction.

Siemens has helped set up CarFinder at Heathrow's Terminal 5, a technology that allows the location of a vehicle simply with the inserting of a parking ticket into an interactive machine and also helping a driver locating space available in a car park, reports SourceSecurity.According to the report, this is part of a GBP 9 million security scheme that the company has developed comprising Siemens enhanced automatic number plate recognition technology (ANPR), Car Finder, barrier control, bay monitoring, CCTV with digital recording, and digital signage, all feeding into a central hub, the NCP Terminal 5 control centre.Using about 35 infrared  cameras, the system not only lets the car driver know the car was parked but also provides information on various access points to the car to make it extremely easy for the driver to get back to the car. More details about CarFinder here.
In a bid to promote healthy food and eating habits, The British Dental Health Foundation (BDHF) has asked the National Health Service (NHS) to dispense water, fruit juices  and healthy snacks through its vending machines instead of sugared soft drinks, reports the BBC.

The BDHF wants the NHS to follow the example of many schools across the country have already banned junk food and drinks from their vending machines.

The growing voice against the sale of unhealthy drinks and snacks through vending machines, owing to their known contribution to heart diseases and diabetes, has implications for vending machine operators. The latter will now not only have to balance popular tastes but also consider compliance issues when deciding what to dispense from their vending machines as the prospect of bans on certain types of drinks and foods is indeed real.
