With more and more number of educational institutions opting for interactive whiteboards, there is growing clamour for the establishment of an industry standard, reports the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (http://www.atl.org.uk/).
According to the website, the British Educational Communications and Technology Agency (Becta) has identified that more suppliers are offering their own products leading to compatibility issues. To address this issue, the agency has appointed Becta to establish an industry standard that can benefit all UK educational institutions.
The project is already underway with the first phase due for completion by June 2008.
