The advantages of the Rack Mount Option is that it integrates with modern structured cabling which uses CAT5e and CAT6 data cable terminated onto patch panels in communications cabinets. The wall mounted, or more usually, floor standing communications cabinets allow all of the computer and telephone connections to be connected easily and the ability to move a telephone extension and computer point to another office simply by re-patching. This means relocating users requires very little effort.

Also this can help with protecting systems from damage, both from physical impact and from electrical damage utilising a rack mount Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS). A UPS device
will not only protect the telephone system from power spikes and drops, but in the case of a power outage it allows the continued use of the telephone system by providing continuous power during the blackout.
